Pandemic Self Portraits

My day to day life during quarantine.

I wanted to capture the mixed feelings and daily activities of my quarantined life. The emotions vary and the days are blurred. The whole situation is surreal, scary, yet oddly fun and peaceful at times. I started this project focusing on the strangeness of my day to day, the fear I was feeling, the helplessness, loss of control, etc. Towards the end, I started to realize how much I am enjoying my current routine and the creativity that is coming from me working at home. Though it is very lonely! I made my animations all in 3D using Cinema 4D. I sculpted a self portrait bust of myself and put it into different scenes every day. I ended up with about 12 unique scenes and some had multiple angles. The audio is my voice over. It’s a sort of voicemail I would leave for a loved one during quarantine describing my days. I added some sound effects and myself playing a little guitar. I hope it is both unnerving and fun, much like my experiences the past few weeks. Some of the models (bonsai tree, stove, tub, etc) are free models included in C4D for educational purposes only. This piece was made entirely as a school project and as an excuse to learn more 3D animation!
